Habema Marines Showed Care Of Health Services For The Dekai Residents

YAHUKIMO - The Task Forces of the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion, one of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains Province. On Tuesday, 27 August 2024, in the context of regional security duties, the Task Forces conducted a patrol by visiting and greeting residents in the Dekai Village, Dekai District.

The Commander of the Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, left a message for the Soldiers conducting patrol on Tuesday, the Keikey Post led by First Lieutenant Lalu. The message was for the Soldiers to use their assignment time for positive things, not just carrying out regional security duties. The message was immediately answered by the initiative of the Soldiers, especially by carrying out health services for the community they met along the Patrol route. While still prioritizing the Patrol security aspect, when they met residents, the Soldiers invited them to communicate and were greeted happily by the Dekai residents.

Upon entering the Village, the Patrol Team met with several residents expressing concerns about the health of their community members. 1LT Lalu, who was leading the Patrol, immediately directed the Team's Medical Soldier to prepare medical equipment and supplies. Upon reaching the location where the Dekai residents were in need, the Medical Soldier swiftly examined and treated the residents. The impact of their actions was profound, as one Dekai resident, Eli Otimuka, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Commander Marines. Praise God, the Dekai residents are healthier now."

Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the Marines Task Forces’ initiative to provide medical treatment to Dekai residents. His words underscored the importance of their work, stating, "The Marines Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to providing basic services for the community, especially health, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA highlights the crucial role such initiatives play in the region's development.
